Ex-Players Association Back One of Their Own for 2026
The Skirlaugh Ex Players Association has once again shown its commitment to supporting the future of the club by sponsoring returning player Alfie Walker for the 2026 season. 🥕👍
After spending time in the professional system, Alfie recently returned to Skirlaugh Rugby Club, bringing valuable experience and ambition back to his hometown club.
However, one conversation highlighted just how important it is for Skirlaugh to continue backing and retaining its own young talent. Speaking with club coaching coordinator Wayne Harris, it emerged that six players who progressed through Skirlaugh’s youth system were part of the West Hull side that went on to win the National Cup.
For the Ex-Players Association, that was a reminder of the quality the club continues to produce — and why supporting local players is so important moving forward.
When Alfie returned to the club, he initially struggled to secure sponsorship for the upcoming season. The matter was put to a vote within the Ex-Players Association group, and members unanimously agreed to sponsor him for the 2026 campaign.
The Association hopes this is another positive step in helping talented local players stay connected to the club and continue building a strong future for Skirlaugh.
