Skirlaugh Ex-Players Association – Building Better Together

Today, the Association has grown to 85 members, each contributing £100 to help strengthen and support the open-age section both on and off the field.

The vision is simple — to help create the right culture within the club, support the coaching team and chairman wherever possible, and ensure players have every opportunity to achieve their full potential while never losing sight of the values and history that make Skirlaugh special.

The Association is proudly supported by sponsors Zenith Development Group, whose motto, “Building Better Together,” perfectly reflects the direction and spirit of the project. Their sponsorship contribution of £1,000 has helped provide official polo shirts for members, proudly featuring the Zenith logo.

Communication between members is managed through a WhatsApp group, with all decisions regarding spending and future plans discussed openly and collectively — ensuring the Association remains driven by its members and for the benefit of the club.

Membership also brings opportunities to reconnect and enjoy the social side of rugby league, including at least one away day each season with free coach travel and refreshments provided for members.

Currently, the Association is run by Kev Stones and current Vice Chairman Steve Grannon, although plans are already in place to establish a small committee - moving forward as the group continues to grow.

The Association is also proud to have three outstanding ambassadors supporting its vision:

  • Steve McNamara - Warrington Wolves Assistant Coach.

  • Dean Hadley - Hull Kingston Rovers

  • Ashley Simpson - Skirlaugh RL Chairman

This is only the beginning.
