Skirlaugh kept their unbeaten home record firmly intact with another strong performance, overcoming Kippax 30-6 to remain top of the league at the halfway stage of the season.

“We started very well, with a 91% completion rate and some solid defence we went in at half-time 24-0 up. However, in typical fashion at the moment, we became our own demise with some unforced errors and silly penalties giving Kippax too much possession.

“Credit to Kippax, they never gave in and applied relentless pressure in defence. They tested us much more in the second period but our defence did the talking and we held firm.

“We now go into the National Cup next week where we host Bristol All Golds. It’s the first time the club has entered the prestigious competition in a fair few years so it’ll be good to get off to a winning start.”
