MORE THAN A RUGBY CLUB - THE SKIRLAUGH FAMILY
Yesterday was a reminder of exactly what being part of Skirlaugh Rugby League Club is all about.
Following the serious dislocated hip suffered by Kell Sharp while representing Skirlaugh in the Yorkshire Plate Final, members of our Open Age setup joined together with the Skirlaugh Ex-Players Association to surprise Kell with a cheque for ยฃ575 to help support him during his recovery.
Rugby league is about far more than what happens during 80 minutes on a weekend.
It's about the friendships you make, the people who stand alongside you and knowing that when times get difficult, your club has your back.
Kell gave everything for the Black & Amber when he pulled on the shirt that day. Today, it was our opportunity to give something back to him.
A massive thank you to our Ex-Players Association and everyone within the Open Age setup who contributed and made this possible. It's another example of different generations of Skirlaugh players coming together to look after one of their own.
From our youngest junior to our oldest former player, we're trying to build a club where people feel that they belong.
Players come and go.
Results come and go.
But the relationships and values built through rugby league can last a lifetime.
We wish Kell all the very best with his recovery and can't wait to see him back around the club and on his feet again soon.
One club. One family. Skirlaugh. ๐กโซ๏ธ
