Ex-Players Association Enjoy Successful Away Day at Featherstone

While the result on the field did not go Skirlaugh's way, Saturday's trip to Featherstone Lions proved to be another fantastic day for the Skirlaugh RL Ex-Players Association.

A total of 34 members of the Association made the journey to support the team, creating a tremendous atmosphere and demonstrating the strong bond that continues to exist between past and present generations of the club.

One of the highlights of the day came before the match when two of the Association's most respected members, Colin Newton and Pete McWat, were invited to present a £500 cheque on behalf of the Ex-Players Association to Tom Gray to help towards the costs of his selection for the Scotland U19s tour in the summer.. The presentation reflected the Association's ongoing commitment to supporting the club and its players.

Following the game, the group stayed together to enjoy the social side of the occasion, with a stop-off in Brough on the journey home rounding off an enjoyable day despite the disappointment of the result.

The Ex-Players Association also presented their own Man of the Match award, with Richard Gotts carrying out the honours on behalf of the group.

Special thanks must go to Dave and the team at Concept, whose generosity played a huge part in making the day such a success. As a long-standing sponsor and Principal Partner of Skirlaugh RLFC, Dave has consistently shown unwavering support for the club, both on and off the field. His commitment to Skirlaugh extends far beyond sponsorship, and his backing has helped the club continue to grow and thrive over many years.

Dave kindly provided refreshments for both players and ex-players in Featherstone and again during the stop in Brough, a gesture that was greatly appreciated by everyone involved. The support from loyal partners such as Concept is invaluable to the club and reflects the strong community spirit that sits at the heart of Skirlaugh RLFC.

Although the scoreboard was not in Skirlaugh's favour, it was another excellent day for the club, showcasing the outstanding support, camaraderie and togetherness that continue to make Skirlaugh RLFC such a special place. The Ex-Players Association once again demonstrated the vital role it plays in preserving the club's heritage while continuing to support its future.
